Peacock Paisley, for Grez Guitars

Two guitar tops marbled directly on the wood for Barry Grzebik. He named the first Peacock Paisley, took it to the Fretboard Summit in Chicago, and then sent a second body as a second commission. Watch Barry introduce it as he prepares for Chicago's Fretboard Summit.

The first top on the tray, before the finish.
The first top, on the tray before the finish. Peacock comb in red, gold, and blue. This one became Peacock Paisley.
The second body, marbled in copper, plum, and blue, the wood grain showing through.
The second body, off the bath. Copper, plum, and blue, with the grain showing through the color.

Barry Grzebik builds guitars one at a time in Santa Rosa. My roommate makes parts for him, and one day asked whether he'd want to see what I do. He did.

There's no paper in this one. The top of the body was prepared the way a sheet is, laid face-down on the bath, and lifted off wearing the pattern, with the grain of the wood showing through the color. Barry finished it under clear coat and named it Peacock Paisley.

It went to Chicago in August 2026 with the rest of his one-offs for the Fretboard Summit. Then he sent a second body.

If you make something with a surface, I can marble it. dianadrever@mac.com
